The bass guitar is that deep, low instrument that provides a foundation between the drums and other instruments or voices in a musical ensemble (you know - a band!). A bassist can play with his or her fingertips, a pick, or even pull and slap the strings for some very funky grooves!
Depending upon the student's goals, we can focus on playing basic lines and patterns, or just getting started. In any case, we learn the layout of a bass, basic music-reading, TAB, and playing positions.
Materials utilized are a notebook, a pencil, a metronome, bass guitar, and a textbook. The student's specific interests, aspirations, age, and skill level will determine specific books, music, and the like beyond that.
Lessons are available for beginner levels.
What is a bassline that tells you what song is on before the other instruments start - can you think of one?
