PHŌSPHODESCENT Music Laboratory, or "PHŌSmuLab" (/fəʊzˈ:mju:læb/), is a hands-on music school for those with an interest in playing a musical instrument and/or singing - the voice is an instrument too!
Lessons focus on traditional technique and theory, but are taught from a vantage point of real world experience, and with an emphasis on the special curiosity of a beginner, or a maybe not-so-"typical" mind.
Musical sounds are wonderful expressions, and the way children or new musicians learn to produce them is only the beginning. Instruction is designed to answer questions such as:
"Why are there twelve notes in (western) music?"
"Why does a quarter note get one beat in 4/4 time?"
"Why does a Treble Clef look like that?"
"Why do we talk about Middle-C if the music alphabet starts on A?"
...and more...
Lessons are one-on-one with an open-door policy for parents and guardians.
Every attempt is made to accommodate a student's goals and facilitate successful learning!
